I'm a PhD student at the Grup de Lingüística Formal, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, supervised by Dr. Martina Wiltschko and Dr. Karolina Grzech. My research focuses on the relationship between language and emotions. Particularly, I'm interested in describing the grammar of discourse particles that express affective and epistemic stances in conversation.
In order to do so, I apply methods from Interactional Linguistics and Conversation Analysis, which allows me to analyze these particles from a sequential perspective across different social activities—storytelling, interviews, trouble-tellings, etc. In addition, I use the Targeted Construction Storyboard Methodology (also known as Conversation Boards) to observe native speakers' metalinguistic judgements about the use of these items.
